How Should You Sleep After Lip Filler

Immediate Post-Procedure CareFirst Few Hours

The Sleep Position

Immediately after receiving lip filler injections, it’s crucial to take steps to minimize swelling and bruising while promoting proper healing.

For the first few hours following the procedure, it’s recommended to apply a cold compress to the treated area for 15-20 minutes at a time, several times a day. This helps reduce inflammation and discomfort.

Avoid touching or rubbing your lips excessively, as this can introduce bacteria and interfere with healing. Also, refrain from drinking through a straw, as suctioning can dislodge the filler.

Sleeping in an elevated position with your head slightly raised is essential to minimize swelling. This can be achieved by using extra pillows or sleeping on a recliner.

Sleeping on your back is generally the best position after lip filler, as it reduces pressure on the treated area and minimizes the risk of unevenness or migration of the filler.

Avoid sleeping on your stomach or side for at least a few days, as this can compress the lips and lead to distortion.

It’s important to follow your injector’s specific instructions regarding post-procedure care, as they may have additional recommendations based on the type of filler used and individual patient needs.
